This device has held up so far. I had a different brand with a plastic valve in it. I blew out the valve on that device. I started using these to extend my vocal range. I used to have a much wider vocal range and these have helped, both high and low range.
As a respiratory therapist, i have to mention the studies that have been performed with these types of devices, including wind instruments (harmonica), have shown that these may help strengthen your breathing muscles and thereby improve breathing. ...just an added possible benefit to using it.
